The Languedoc Page
A comprehensive guide to visiting and living in Languedoc. Everything you need to know (and more) is right here.

Towns and Villages

Limoux is our home town. It is a gorgeous town in the Languedoc with a population of 10 000. The river Aude runs through the middle of it and it has a beautiful town square where you can spend hours watching the world go slowly by.

Les Plus Beaux Villages de France (The Most Beautiful Villages in France)
There are around 150 French villages which have been awarded this special status. If you're undecided where to spend your next holiday but know you want somewhere very beautiful well I suggest you look here first.

Les Plus Beaux Detours de France
This is a list of the 100 or so most beautiful detours in France which take you off the typical tourist trail. These places are not just beautiful but are also culturally important and have kept their French ambiance and identity. Limoux where we live has just be added to this list and I can see why! So if you want to get away from the usual tourist places, this is the place to start.

We holidayed here one year and just loved it. A village in the Herault with a stunning view and with the River Orb running through it. If you want stunning landscape, French ambiance and river swimming on your doorstep then take a look.

Food and Wine

Blanquette de Limoux

Festivals and Carnivals

Limoux carnival (Fecos)
This is the longest running carnival in Europe and lasts for 3 months usually starting in January. A real local tradition which attracts scores of visitors.
